Kathy joined our organization in 2012 and has played a vital role ever since.

She expertly handles dual roles as the Vice-President of our Board of Directors and is the coordinator of our Resource Facilitator Service.

She is also self-employed as a Brain Injury Specialist and Disability Transition and Resource Specialist which adds a wealth of experience to her position here at the Brain Injury Resource Center of Wisconsin.

​As a Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer (CBIST) Kathy has been approved to provide official ACBIS training to Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) candidates.   CBISTs demonstrate advanced skills in the field of brain injury and maintain their skills through continuing education

Obtaining the Certified Brain Injury Specialist (CBIS) credential is the next step in ensuring you remain a valuable, marketable, and well-informed asset in the field of brain injury services.    Official CBIS training is provided by Kathy Richardson our in-house Certified Brain Injury Specialist Trainer (CBIST)


  • Applicants must have had 500 hours of currently verifiable direct contact experience with an individual or individuals with brain injury.  
  • Experience can be paid employment and/or academic internship. 
  • The qualifying experience must have included formal supervision or have been conducted while the applicant operated under a professional license. Volunteer work does not qualify. 
  • Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent
